Champion driver Bobby East fatally stabbed at gas station

RAPID CITY, S.D. - Around 11:30 p.m. on May 1, Rapid City Police Department responded to a disturbance report in the 1200 block of Atlas St. where individuals were reportedly fighting. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a woman had been stabbed during the altercation. The victim was found nearby and subsequently transported to the hospital with significant but non-life-threatening injuries.

During the course of the investigation, officers received information indicating that the suspect had fled to a nearby church at the 500 block of Anamosa St. Officers located and apprehended the suspect, identified as 22-year-old Tyree Goodcrow of Rapid City, who was found hiding in a back room of the church.

Goodcrow was taken into custody and later arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault. He was subsequently transported to the Pennington County Jail. The knife allegedly used in the assault was recovered by officers at the scene.
